Police identify driver who died after rolling vehicle into Scarborough Marsh


Police have identified the driver who died after rolling his vehicle into the Scarborough Marsh. Christopher Thompson, 19, of Old Orchard Beach, was found dead in his car just before 10:00 a.m.Police said Thompson was driving south on Pine Point Road when it crashed into the marsh.Thompson was the only person inside the vehicle, police said.Pine Point Road was shut down for several hours while the scene was cleared.The crash remains under investigation.

A 46-year-old man died after his car was hit by a tornado Wednesday afternoon in Madill, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.Chad L. Weyant was driving on U.S. 377 near State Highway 99C when his car was hit by a tornado, according to the OHP. Troopers said Weyant was ejected from the car for an unknown distance and was found in the median. The car was found in a field. Marshall County emergency officials said on Wednesday that there were two fatalities in Madill due to the tornado.Officials said a tornado touched down near J & I Manufacturing in Madill.

The man’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck a large stone, Coroner Pam Gay said.

UPDATE: York County Coroner Pam Gay identified the man who died in an early Sunday morning crash in Warrington Township as 46-year-old John Waters II.

Waters lived in Wellsville, Gay said. His cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt force trauma and his manner of death was accidental.

A male driver died early Sunday morning in Warrington Township after he crossed the center line of a road and struck a large stone, according to York County Coroner Pam Gay.

The crash occurred about 2:26 a.m. in the 2200 block of Pinetown Road. The man’s name, cause and manner of death are pending notification of his next-of-kin, Gay said.

Woman shot and died Friday in Drake neighborhood

A woman was shot while driving a vehicle in Des Moines’ Drake neighborhood on Friday afternoon and later died from her injuries, according to Des Moines Police.

Police received a call reporting the shooting shortly before 4 p.m. Friday in the 3300 block of Kingman Boulevard. When emergency personnel arrived, life-saving procedures were performed on the victim.

Police are treating the shooting as a homicide investigation, according to a news release from the Des Moines Police Department. Police identified the victim Saturday morning as Catherine Bobbitt.

No arrests have been made at this time.
