Transportation Services for Seniors Living at Home

Description

Transportation is crucial to ensure access to essential services such as medical care and grocery shopping. The availability of adequate transportation enables older persons to live independently in their communities, helps to prevent isolation and the possible need for long-term care placement. Many older people, who do not drive, must rely on family and friends to provide much of the transportation. But for others, it is necessary to find community resources to provide transportation, as this vital support service may be their only connection to the outside world.

The Phoenix Metro Bicycle Club is a non-profit social organization that leads regularly scheduled weekly bicycle rides and other special events for the benefit of its members.  We promote and provide venues for safe and legal bicycling, primarily in the greater Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area.

Based on advice from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), we are recommending that everyone practice social distancing and avoid the risk of physical injury when our health care system is at or nearing capacity due to the coronavirus pandemic. For this reason we are suspending the Club’s weekly rides and social activities until the health emergency passes. Thank you for your understanding. At such time as the CDC and Arizona’s governor have declared it safe to resume normal ride schedules, the PMBC Board plans to meet to schedule the resumption of Club activities.
