Service (motor vehicle) – Wikipedia

Periodic maintenance of a motor vehicle

A motor vehicle service or tune-up is a series of maintenance procedures carried out at a set time interval or after the vehicle has traveled a certain distance. The service intervals are specified by the vehicle manufacturer in a service schedule and some modern cars display the due date for the next service electronically on the instrument panel. A tune-up should not be confused with engine tuning, which is the modifying of an engine to perform better than the original specification, rather than using maintenance to keep the engine running as it should.

The completed services are usually recorded in a service book upon completion of each service. A complete service history usually adds to the resale value of a vehicle.

Two stolen cars were recently recovered by Bryan and College Station police.

One of the recoveries led to the 68th time a Bryan woman has been booked in the Brazos County jail in 26 years. Last Friday shortly before noon, a Bryan police officer observed a car driving slow enough in a neighborhood that the officer believed the driver was acting suspiciously. That led the officer to check the license plate. That led to discovering the car was stolen from Killeen. 43 year old Faye Carolyn Sweeps of Bryan is being held for violating parole as well as new charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and giving a false name.

Defective Motor Vehicle Lawsuits – FindLaw

Motor vehicle defect cases include claims involving not only passenger automobiles, but also motorcycles, trucks, and vans. Unlike an ordinary personal injury claim for negligence after a motor vehicle accident, in order to establish a vehicle manufacturer or seller’s liability for a car defect, you do not need to show that they were careless.

Claims may be based on defects in:

  • The body and frame,
  • Brakes and braking system,
  • Cooling and temperature control system,
  • Electrical system,
  • Engine assembly,
  • Exhaust system,
  • Fuel system,
  • Lubrication system,
  • Passenger compartment,
  • Steering and suspension systems,
  • Transmission and drivetrain, and other parts and accessories.

Again, carelessness is not a requirement under the strict liability legal standard. Instead, liability in motor vehicle defect cases is controlled by the doctrine of strict liability. Regardless of what steps a manufacturer

All Maine motor vehicle-related expirations extended indefinitely

Maine has extended expiration dates indefinitely on all state driver’s licenses, IDs, vehicle registrations and inspection stickers until the state of emergency prompted by the coronavirus pandemic is over.

Gov. Janet Mills issued an executive order this week that extended a waiver for all driver’s licenses, permits, state identification cards, commercial driver’s licenses, dealer licenses, salvage motor vehicle recycler licenses, driver and rider school licenses and instructor licenses that expire during the period of emergency, which began March 15.

The Maine State Police, which oversees the state’s annual vehicle inspection program, also has extended indefinitely all expiration dates on vehicle inspection stickers for the same period that applies to other driver- and vehicle-related documents, police spokesman Steve McCausland said Friday.
