Car rental company Avis Budget Group Inc (NASDAQ: CAR) makes it known they specialize in cars.Avis Budget Group was actually part of a larger, now-defunct company called Cendant. The company split into different segments, and the automobile rental segment consisted of Avis and Budget. The two now exist as Avis Budget Group.Unbeknownst to most, the Cendant spin-off resulted in a couple of other well-known companies. Its hotel franchises spun-off into Wyndham Destinations (NASDAQ: WYND) and its real estate franchise spun-off into Realogy (NASDAQ: RLGY).Car rental companies have recently come under financial difficulties as rentals drop due to the coronavirus pandemic. Amarillo Fire Department details two vehicle fires Thursday – News – Amarillo Globe-News

The Amarillo Fire Department released information about two vehicle fires, which occurred Thursday evening at 1609 SW Bowie and at 1800 NW Washington Ave.

According to a news release for the first incident, the fire department dispatched a single unit to a reported vehicle fire. When the unit arrived at 8:33 p.m., a single vehicle was on fire in front of 1609 SW Bowie.

There was trouble extinguishing the vehicle due to a leaking fuel tank, which caused a second truck to be requested to provide a water supply. Crews had the fire under control by 8:50 p.m., and no injuries were reported. The incident is currently under investigation by the Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office.

According to a news release for the second incident, the department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 8:52 p.m.

Tel Aviv to stop operating bicycle rental service – Israel News

Tel Aviv announced it is terminating its contract with Tel-O-Fun bicycle rental service in August due to the increasing popularity of electric bikes and scooters.

Tel Aviv Municipality data shows that the number of people subscribed to the Tel-O-Fun service has gradually declined in the past several months, from 2,035 subscribers in November 2019 to 1,625 in March 2020.

Israel’s single-use coalition will serve Trump and protect BibiHaaretz

In addition, the number of times subscribers used the service plunged from 34,000 in November to 12,000 in March.

The municipality said that the lack of demand led to the early termination of its contract with Tel-O-Fun – instead of ending the contract in January 2021 as slated, it will be terminated in August of this year.

Suspects in Randleman vehicle theft, break-in located – News – The Courier-Tribune

RANDLEMAN — The suspects in a multi-vehicle theft and break-in that occurred in Randleman were located in High Point Thursday.

According to a press release, detectives from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the High Point Police Department, served a search warrant at the residence located at 508 Warbler Court, High Point, on Thursday.

The search warrant was a part of an investigation into multiple car break-ins and two vehicles stolen from the Bentley Drive area of Randleman between April 13 and 14.

Those vehicles were found: A stolen Chevrolet Camaro was recovered at the residence on Warbler Court and a stolen Jeep Cherokee was recovered in another area of High Point.

Whitehall: Man arrested after being found in stolen vehicle – News – ThisWeek Community News

Whitehall Division of Police officers arrested a 33-year-old Columbus man for receiving stolen property at 1:05 a.m. April 5 at South Hamilton Road and Melroy Avenue.

He was found in a vehicle that had been reported stolen, police said.

In other recent Whitehall police reports:

* Five juveniles from ages 11 to 17 were charged with curfew violations at 1:55 a.m. April 7 on the 100 block of Ross Road.

* Three juveniles, two 13-year-olds and one 16-year-old, were arrested for curfew violations and failure to comply with public orders at 12:30 a.m. April 8 on the 700 block of Lamby Lane.

Police: Pregnant woman carjacks news vehicle with Atlanta reporter inside

Atlanta police are investigating after a news vehicle was carjacked with a reporter inside of it Tuesday morning. 

A news crew with CBS 46 was covering a story near Atlantic Station when a woman crashed her personal vehicle into a security gate along 17th Street. Investigators said the woman then approached the news vehicle before hopping into the driver seat and taking off. 

Investigators said a reporter, identified as Iyani Hughes, was in the back seat of the running news van, possibly editing video, when the suspect jumped in and carjacked it.

Police said the reporter started screaming, telling the female carjacker to stop, and when she kept driving Hughes buckled her seatbelt.
