The Amarillo Fire Department released information about two vehicle fires, which occurred Thursday evening at 1609 SW Bowie and at 1800 NW Washington Ave.

According to a news release for the first incident, the fire department dispatched a single unit to a reported vehicle fire. When the unit arrived at 8:33 p.m., a single vehicle was on fire in front of 1609 SW Bowie.

There was trouble extinguishing the vehicle due to a leaking fuel tank, which caused a second truck to be requested to provide a water supply. According to a news release for the second incident, the department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 8:52 p.m. Thursday at 1800 NW Washington Ave. When units arrived, they found a vehicle on fire near two residences.

Firefighters had the fire under control by 9:02 p.m. with no extension to the nearby homes. No injuries were reported. According to the release, the owner of the vehicle stated he was replacing the fuel line on the car when the fire began.
