Second grade boy was helping his mom when he was struck on Wayside Drive by two vehicles
HOUSTON, TX, (March 04, 2020) – A second grade student of Elmore Elementary School was tragically struck by two vehicles on Wednesday, March 4. According to a GoFundMe page that was set up to help the victim and his family, King Reed was crossing Wayside Avenue to a convenience store, in order to get candy to raise his mother’s blood sugar.

The page reports that as King was crossing the road, he was hit by a city truck, and immediately after, by another vehicle. They said the city truck did not stop.
A nearby ambulance was able to come to King’s rescue, getting him stabilized. He was transported to Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.
The brave child suffered numerous injuries including a concussion, internal bleeding, and a damaged eye socket. The page says that the handlebars of the bike went through King’s shoulder.
We wish all the best to King and the Reed family for a speedy recovery.
SERIOUS INJURY BICYCLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
During its investigation, police will try to determine what caused the truck driver to hit young Mr. King.
Bicyclists are protected by a variety of laws, but unfortunately, as this case illustrates, they can be at danger while on the road. In 2018, approximately 800 bicyclists died in the U.S. in accidents with motor vehicles, and King is lucky to be alive.
In addition to the diligent work performed by law enforcement, Candice Bond, an experienced bicycle accident attorney, noted that in cases such as this it’s imperative to have an independent probe conducted by a seasoned lawyer in order to protect the rights of a family of a victim.
“Having the proper resources is extremely important when investigating a bicycle accident case and demonstrating that there was negligence on the part of a motorist,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Sanchez-Gordon.
“Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must thoroughly be examined. An accident reconstruction team and or even bicycle manufacturing experts are often utilized to help to put together what occurred. These resources are necessary in order to protect the legal rights of the grieving family of a victim.”
TEXAS PERSONAL INJURY ATTORNEY
Pending the results of the family of King Reed may have the right to pursue personal injury lawsuits. Andrew Wright, of counsel at Bond Sanchez-Gordon noted that the uncertainty following a serious injury can be overwhelming, and disrupt all aspects of life, including family, work and finances. Overall quality of life can be negatively affected.
“It is vital for victims to hire an attorney when filing a personal injury claim. This allows them to negotiate with an insurance company on the behalf of a client,” Wright said.
“Insurance companies often try to pressure victims to settle for a quick payout for far less than the case is worth. However, an attorney will vigorously advocate for their client to ensure that they are treated with respect and compensated fairly.”
